| The
Kingdom Bahrain...
The
kingdom of Bahrain should be judged not by its size but by
its achievements. Bahrain has long been home to one of the
most progressive societies in the Arab World and its capital
Manama a focal point for Gulf intelligentsia.
Its position has been further strengthened by the democratic
reforms initiated by His Majesty the King Shaikh Hamad bin
Isa Al Khalifa.
The archipelago, located in the heart of the Arabian Gulf,
consists of 33 islands with a combined area of 676 sq km.
With a population of over 650,000, Bahrain is a peaceful and
stable country, ripe for investment with one of the most diversified
economies in the region. It boasts, among other things, a
strong infrastructure, including a modern telecommunications
backbone, an advanced roads network, a solid education system
and a modern airport.
In addition to its substantial oil and natural gas revenues,
it is a major aluminium exporter and an international banking
centre. It is also an important business and family tourist
destination with a host of hotels, shopping malls, convention
centers and other first class facilities. Also of interest
to many visitors is the country's rich history, especially
the ancient Delmon Civilization.
